Nippert was a standout center for the Bearcats who tragically died on Christmas day in 1923 from an injury sustained in the Thanksgiving Day game a month earlier. In his memory, his grandfather, James N. Gamble, funded the completion of UC stadium which was renamed James Gamble Nippert Memorial Stadium on November 8, 1924.  Nippert Stadium celebrates its 100^th anniversary in 2024.
